Thank you for taking the time to read about my company. I am proud of what I have built up over the past few years and enjoy talking about the benefits that S & S can offer you, so please excuse me if I seem a little enthusiastic.
One of the problems of operating a building company is cash-flow. Materials are not cheap and neither are trades. Put the two together, and you, the client, end up with an expensive contractor who needs regular large injections of cash. I like to think my approach helps keep costs low and quality high, let me explain.
I can keep the costs low by not having a large permanently employed staff, this helps because I do not have a large wage bill every week and as a result do not spend my time invoicing and chasing payments, instead I am sourcing materials, bathroom suites, organizing trades, site deadlines etc.
When you employ me you actually get me! What I mean is I will personally be working on your contract, I can not achieve the high level of service and quality by organizing others and remotely managing your project.
I do not do everything, on larger contracts I employ sub-contractors, to take care of heating, ground-works, decorating etc. These ‘contractors' are trades that I have worked with for a number of years. I have to say it is not easy to find like minded professional trades that not only enjoy what they do, but also conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Because these trades are the very best (in my opinion) in their respective fields, it is relatively easy for me to handle elaborate construction contracts with superb results. They are all qualified and completely up to date with the latest regulations. Further more, I only pay sub-contractors when I am happy with the quality of workmanship and materials. They are also governed by their national standard, i.e. NICEIC, CORGI Building Control etc. Each sub-contractor has his own cash-flow and therefore the burden of the project finances are split into smaller amounts, this is how I can operate an invoicing system that only requests monies on ‘completed or partially completed' items of work. You are not paying in advance.
